RE: Scholar Athlete Nominations

DATE: January 20, 2020

The Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation has

honored football scholar-athletes for the past thirty two years. Over this

time, 560 young men from the high schools, prep schools and colleges

have been recognized at our annual spring banquet. Each scholar-athlete

in turn becomes a part of a national organization that includes

126 chapters, and 12,000 members.

This year will be our thirty-third awards banquet and we will again be presenting $500 scholarships to each and every selected scholar-athlete. This is a result of a substantial gift from the Harold Alfond Foundation through the Coach Mac-Huard Fund.

You will find attached here a nomination form to be used in recommending the best student-football player(s) at your school.

The nomination deadline is March 15th. Please enclose a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a PHOTO and all pertinent statistics. Our selection committee will choose the most worthy high school, prep and college scholar-athletes to be honored at our awards banquet on Wednesday, May 20th at Bowdoin College.

Our Chapter’s goal has always been to have a nominated player from each of

the states’ schools. With your cooperation and help – we will make it a reality

this spring. Please return the completed nomination form and related data to

our selection committee by March 15th . Send to:
